Maritime Careers Events in Scotland showcasing Onboard Maritime's Virtual Training Ship game.
Onboard Maritime's Virtual Training Ship being used to promote maritime careers in Scotland.

We're excited to announce a new initiative that will inspire the next generation of maritime professionals across Scotland. The Scottish Maritime Cluster recently secured funding from the Department for Transport's Cluster Development Fund to launch a maritime careers outreach project.

This project, which includes a series of events specifically for S3 pupils, aims to showcase the wide range of career opportunities within the maritime sector.

Onboard Maritime Careers Events

As part of this initiative, our Onboard Maritime team will be visiting several schools in the coming weeks. We're bringing along our innovative Competency Assessment Platform, which features a Virtual Training Ship. This educational game allows young people to explore a modern vessel and experience real-life scenarios in a fun, engaging way.

Originally developed for our own Cadet Development Programme, the Virtual Training Ship has proven to be an effective tool for improving motivation and engagement. It provides a safe environment for aspiring cadets to develop critical skills, including hazard perception, risk assessment, and understanding complex equipment.

This platform isn't just for cadets—our games programmers designed the Virtual Training Ship to be adaptable for a variety of fleet and crew training purposes.

Our innovative approach to learning is helping us train the best talent in the maritime industry.

We're taking the Virtual Training Ship to the following maritime careers events:

  • 23rd October - Edinburgh

  • 28th October - City of Glasgow College

  • 12th November – Dundee
