Study Around Your Life, Not the Other Way Around
How Seafarers Can Plan Study Around Work, Leave and Life Using Onboard Maritime's Study Planner Tool.

Finding time to study when you are working at sea is rarely straightforward. Your workload, watch pattern, internet access and level of fatigue can change from one day to the next. When you are on leave, study must compete with family life and everything else that needs your attention.
Online learning gives you more flexibility than a classroom course, but it still needs some structure. It helps to know what you need to cover, where your weaker areas are and how much time you can realistically set aside. That may be an hour on one day and no study at all on another.
You should not feel that studying is a barrier simply because you cannot follow the same routine every week. The important thing is to have a plan that can change when your circumstances change.
Onboard Maritime’s Study Planner helps you create that plan. You choose the subjects you want to work on and enter the time you genuinely have available. You can also block out watches, work commitments, travel, family time and other periods when studying will not be practical.
The Study Planner then creates a schedule based on your priorities and available time. As you work through it, you can record what you completed, how long it took and any points that need more attention.
At the end of the week, you can review your progress and adjust the plan if necessary. You do not need a perfect study routine. You need a realistic one that helps you keep moving forward, even when work and sea time make life unpredictable.
The Study Planner tool is available to all learners when they enrol on one of Onboard Maritime's courses or Cadet Development Programme
